Standard Commercial Half Inch Enclosed Rotary Switch
Cole's Series C1800 Style Rotary Switch is made to provide the
mechanical and electrical reliability for instrumentation, medical
equipment, aircraft, computers, industrial controls, communication,
ordnance, as well as ground support electronic equipment, etc.
The C1800 Series switch is designed with the same specifications
and dimensions as our M1800 switch and offers the same level of
performance, but COLE can provide the C1800 at a lower price by
using the latest, state-of-the-art materials. The C1800 switch is
perfect for high and low level switching, and meets or exceeds the
requirements of MIL-S-3786 and has been tested per MIL-STD-202 as
follows:
- THERMAL SHOCK PER MIL-STD-202; METHOD 107, TEST CONDITION "B"
- VIBRATION PER MIL-STD-202; METHOD 204, TEST CONDITION "B"
- MEDIUM SHOCK PER MIL-STD-202; METHOD 213
- HIGH SHOCK PER MIL-STD-202; METHOD 207
- MOISTURE RESISTANCE PER MIL-STD-202; METHOD 106
- EXPLOSION PROOF PER MIL-STD-202; METHOD 109
- SALT SPRAY PER MIL-STD-202; METHOD 101, CONDITION "B"
The switches are available with 36, 45, 60, and 90 degree indexing
with one or two poles (see Circuit Diagram). They include fixed
and adjustable stops, sealed and unsealed styles, PC or solder lug
terminals, RFI & EMI protection, and a .125" or .250" dia. shaft.
The shafts are provided with either a single flat or a screwdriver
slot, and are made from brass or stainless steel.
Unique design construction features include: all terminals on the
rear, self-cleaning contacts for low level switching, and low contact
resistance through the life of the switch (25,000 cycles min.).
The detent mechanism provides smooth positive detent action and
a mechanical life in excess of 50,000 cycles. In the C1800, the
terminals and commons are molded in thermoset plastic and sealed
with a special process to eliminate flux contaminants from seeping
inside the switch during wave soldering and cleaning.
The C1800 switch is built in a clean-room atmosphere, as are all
COLE products, to prevent contamination during assembly.
These and many other features will provide the ultimate in mechanical
and electrical reliability, during the life of the switch.
